I'm writing a painting while lying in bed. I'll force a description to stay in your head. Denial. The colors are blending, we bleed into white. The void above us is torn by light. Denial, denial.
2.
A mile from the storm... A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my- "You should know by now, you're heavier than the ice will allow," and I said: "I'll get over it somehow." A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. A mile from the storm- with monsters at my heels. "You should know by now, you're heavier than the ice will allow," And when the fire came... And when the fire came- we dug through ash 'til dawn. And when the fire came- the ice once there was gone. And when the fire came- we ventured to move on. And when the fire came- we dug through ash 'til dawn. And when the fire came- the ice once there was gone. And when the fire came- we ventured to move on.

Where is the hallowed monument? Where are the heroes we were promised? Where are the dreams we were told to have? Between the broken banks of the Merrimack- along the walls of semi-abstract- below the spaces in the train tracks- you find hope. Day by day. There's no way we can take this any longer- can't you see that your world's becoming smaller? We don't know who our enemies are. Inside the pressure cookers with one use- is fear that both sides will use as an excuse- to slowly- take our lives away. Day by Day
4.
-and if I could give her a release, you think she'd see the best in me? "But if you caught every falling piece, you're forced to throw them back to the sea." But there's nowhere that I would rather be. Slowly drifting out to the sea. You say it's "delayed gratification" as you light up a cigarette. And as the crowd filters out to leave, you mention something about regret. But there's nowhere I'd rather be. A ghost remains of you and me.
5.
"You'll measure your life out in coffee spoons of calorie intake. Give us a part of you to lose with every handshake." "Pretend, follow along. You can't go wrong. Work hard, you can't go wrong. Follow along. Pretend, follow along, you can't go wrong." "You'll pick out your wife and life-long dreams by dead reckoning. You'll ignore the cries and screams of your soul beckoning." "Sit still in plastic chairs. Recite your prayers. Count the exact amount. It's all about numbers (letters, tone, and style) in sequence. There are no secrets." This is too far gone. I'll prove them wrong I'll prove them wrong. I'll prove you wrong.
6.
This can't be all. Enough is enough. A simple hope that can't be crushed. Fall into me. Fall with me. Let an unknown force bring us home. It's already a memory.
7.
God bless you, doctor. You've healed all hearts, but one. God bless you, doctor. You're out of love- so buy one. God bless you, lover. It is cold where you're from. And God bless you, mother. I've since lost my fear of the Lord. Should have been a green eyed son. How old will you be when you see your own fate? Hell on earth is a cold place- where no one is alone, they're all apart- living in their own sealed-off hearts. So, I'll walk with you part-way, but don't count on me for anything.
8.
Do you remember me, and the things that we said, alone? Empty cans in the yard. Don't be afraid. Everything is beautiful. There is no pain. Wherever you are, I hope you've forgotten. These are all lies. These are all lies. These are all lies. These are all lies. Come away with me, I think that I'm different, but so are we. There were no cans in the yard. And God was looking down- He blessed himself for being so profound. You drifted with him through the wind of the day. These are all lies. I'll remember you as a stubborn chill on the New England wind.
9.
Writing on a brand new page smudged with water. Once-straight lines all mixed and faded together. From the depths no one can hear you. From your own cell, no one will try. Decrees of love and satisfaction will echo back from a fortress on high. Somewhere, somehow, still- someone is waiting, drenched in water. Common sense and fits of longing bleed together. On the wall, the words are written: "Run now, while you still can." Yet, somewhere still, a moth is burning Ending up where it began. And I may see your ghost... but it is kind, and dishonest. Far away, they can hear you- the constant beating of a heart. Footsteps echo in the distance and they can't tell the two apart. And I may see your ghost...
10.
Daylight creeps forward to where the land ends. Dew settles, waiting, on plants in the sand. We can almost see the past. She can almost hear the water. I can almost feel a soul slip through my thoughts to the world after. Your reach should exceed all that you can grasp. The purpose of their "heaven," is exactly that. Lead me through my memory. Remind me you were happy. Murmur symbols on that beach- in a code, now only you can speak. Keep moving forward. Pretend, then be. Stay young, stay foolish. Thoughts reach toward the sea.
